Swinging Over Muddy Road

Image

Sergeant Walter Schaefer of Port Washington, Wisconsin, swings from a rope over an extremely muddy road just after a truck has just driven through at a military camp at Saidor, New Guinea (present day Papua New Guinea). At least four soldiers are riding in the truck. Waiting on the pole for his turn is Sergeant Armond Lackas of Hartford, Wisconsin. A tent is on the right.
