Sauk County Policeman Fred Bayer, in uniform, using a pointer stick while testifying at the trial of William Welter, Lawrence Nutley, and Richard Nickl. They were accused of slaying Patrolman James Lantz, Baraboo, and wounding Lake Delton Police Chief Eugene Lee Kohl in an early morning gun battle in front of the Lake Delton village hall.
