John Alcock

Oval-framed tintype portrait of John Alcock, a professor of phonography/shorthand at Bayless' Business College of Dubuque. He moved to Platteville and founded the Platteville Business College. John was born in Arkengarthdale, England, and emigrated to the United States as a child.
