LeRoy Gore, the Sauk City journalist who organized the "Joe Must Go!" petition drive to recall Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. Gore had supported McCarthy in 1952, but he was disillusioned by the attack on General Zwicker and by McCarthy's general neglect of Wisconsin interests.
