Washburn Observatory

Exterior of Washburn Observatory, a gift to the University of Wisconsin-Madison from Cadwallader C. Washburn, on Observatory Hill overlooking Lake Mendota, off Observatory Drive. It was built in 1878 for $43,000 and boasted the nations' third largest refractor telescope.
