Lincoln Elementary School

Ornate terra cotta work above the entrance of the Lincoln School building, 720 East Gorham Street, designed by Claude and Starck and built in 1915-16. The terra-cotta eagles over each main entrance were designed by George Elmslie. The eagle design was originally executed for a bank in Winona, Minnesota and the molds were reused for Lincoln School. At one time it housed the Madison Art Center, now it is an apartment building.
