Professor of Botany at Glasgow University (1820-1840). Shown here, one year before he died, in full-body three-quarter profile, sitting in a chair and holding a book in front of a fabricated backdrop. Handwritten inscription at the bottom reads, "Dir. Wm. Hooker, Kew Gardens."
