Ninth plate ambrotype of unidentified African-American man. Three-quarter length portrait, standing, facing forward. He is wearing a jacket over which hangs a stole and apron with star, skull & crossbones, and initials P.W. and G.M. [C.M.?], probably Masonic accoutrements. Hand-coloring on cheeks.
