General Josiah Harmar

Quarter plate daguerreotype of a painting of General Josiah Harmar. General Harmar fought for the United States against Native Americans in the 1780's and 1790's in an effort to gain control of the Northwest Territory. General Harmar resided in Pennsylvania. The painting of General Harmar was done by the artist Raphaelle Peale. The original painting is on display in the Diplomatic Reception Rooms of the U.S. Department of State.
