Fred Raemisch, 16, of 2234 E. Johnson Street, sitting in his championship soap box derby car, #41. This was the first official soap box derby held in Madison. Fred won a wristwatch.

Roger Gabbei, age 12, competed in the Madison soap box derby held on Gorham Street. He carried a spare wheel in case of a crackup. Roger won the class B title. He lived at 1009 Lake Court.
