Part 1: Avraham Mezerik discusses China and the United Nations and the politics involved in the refusal to admit Communist China. Specific issues discussed include Taiwan (Formosa), India's opinion, and the United States' involvement in East Asia. This discussion is continued on Audio 515A/152. Parts 2-3: This conversation is continued from Audio 515A/150 and includes discussion of the military aspects of non-recognition, economic aspects of non-recognition, China and the Korean War, possibility of war with China, China and Tibet, and the lack of civil liberties in Communist China. Myles Horton gives his views on communism and world peace, coexistence, compares communism and democracy, warns that civil rights leaders will be called communists, comments on nonviolence as a useful tool to the civil rights movement, and points out that Highlander is breaking the law of the state by integrating students. Septima Clark leads discussion of how to further the United Nations in local communities and lists groups that are interested in the United Nations in Knoxville, Tennessee.
