The Local History Affiliate Committee

The Wisconsin Historical Society's Local History Affiliate Committee, formerly the Wisconsin Council for Local History, advises the Wisconsin Historical Society and its Board of Curators regarding the needs of the Society's local history affiliate organizations and informs the Society's strategy for developing and deploying resources to support a vibrant and sustainable affiliate network. This includes providing counsel and guidance to advise the Society on its services to affiliates, collaborating with the Society's Local History Outreach Program regarding specific strategy and initiatives, and facilitating communication and cooperation among local history organizations.

A complete list of affiliated organizations appears in the Local History Affiliate Directory below.

Committee Members

The Local History Affiliate Committee is comprised of six local history affiliate representatives, representing the six regions served by the Society and reflecting the diversity of local affiliates, including urban and rural organizations, small and large museums, and county and local societies. Representatives of the six regions are elected by their peers at regional meetings, and the Committee Chair is elected by the six regional representatives. The Local History Affiliate Committee meets at least once per quarter.
