| Additional Information: | SEGMENTAL ARCHED WINDOWS. CONVERTED TO HOUSE PRIOR TO 1977 AND NOW (2006) HAS MODERN REAR AND SIDE WINGS, BOTH OF WHICH ARE VINYL-CLAD. 2020: is a one and one-half story Front Gabled school built in 1893. The main portion of the building is clad in cream brick and has modern aluminum frieze boards and eaves. The front entrance is centered in the east elevation and fronts onto North Road. The entry contains a pair of historic wood four-panel doors with arched lights. The doors are topped by a transom with modern glass. Above the door is a small gabled entry canopy supported on decorative brackets. The canopy appears to be original and displays scroll-cut brackets, turned drops, cornice moldings, and scallop-cut shingles in the gable. On either side of the door are segmental-arched windows; the outer edges of the openings have been furred in, and the windows are modern one-over-one double hung replacements. A stone plaque reading “SCHOOL DISTRICT No. 9 / 1893” is centered above the entry canopy. A small arched window is located in the gable. Fenestration on the north (STH 11) side is similar, with segmental-arched openings that have been reduced in size to accommodate replacement windows. A modern vinyl-sided one story addition is located on the south side of the building. A large modern vinyl-sided dormer is located on the south roof, as well. No information was available regarding the interior of the former school, although WHPD indicates that the building was converted to a house prior to 1977. |
