| Additional Information: | Barnard was a local carpenter; bargeboard and parts of house were salvaged from the P.H. Smith House. 2024: The George Barnard House is a two-story, Gabled Ell residence that was constructed in 1857. The house has a cruciform footprint, stone foundation, board and batten clad exterior walls, and a cross-gabled roof sheathed in asphalt shingles. The façade (north elevation) consists of a central front gable flanked by one-story porches with flat roofs. To the west is the entrance bay that contains a wood paneled door that is accessed by stone steps. Fenestration consists largely of fixed, twelve-pane wood windows with decorative wood crowns and fixed shutters. The roof has overhanging eaves and is decorated with a simple frieze board and bargeboards on the gable ends. A brick chimney pierces the side-facing gable on the east side of the house. |
