NOTES
Additional Information:The first Methodist church service was held in the home of Robert Curran in 1836. In 1855 a Methodist Church was built on Pilgrim Road. It flourished until the Civil War. Later, the Putney Corners School was the site of the organization of the Bible Christian Society. This group in 1868 bought an existing church building for $260, then bought a lot from Mrs. Ann Eubank for $50, and moved the building at a cost of $350 to the present site of the Bookfield Methodist Church on Brookfield Road. In 1884, the Bible Christian Church became a Methodist church. The steeple was removed in 1964 and an addition put on the back. The small frame house just north of the church is the first Putney School. The B in the photo code stands for BKFD. Another map name is City Engineer 10-1-92.
