NOTES
Additional Information:BUILT IN THE C. 1840'S, THIS TWO STORY FEDERAL STYLED HOUSE FEATURES A T-SHAPED PLAN CONFIGURATION, A STONE FOUNDATION, AN UNSPECIFIED STONE EXTERIOR, A STONE AND WOOD TRIM, AND A SHINGLED GABLE ROOF. SIX-OVER-SIX LIGHTS DISTINGUISH THE FACADE WINDOWS, AS DO STONE LINTELS AND SILLS. A WOODEN REAR ADDITION WAS CONSTRUCTED AT AN UNSPECIFIED DATE. THE RESIDENCE IS IN GOOD CONDITION.

THIS BUILDING WAS LOCALLY DESIGNATED IN 1972 AND IS PART OF THE MINERAL POINT LANDMARK DISTRICT.

2012- "The builder and original occupants of this house are unknown. It was built on Lot 94, Vliet's Survey, which was patented by James James in 1836; James built and lived in the one story stone house immediately north of this one. The original occupants were most likely Cornish as the houses in the immediate vicinity were built by and occupied by several interrelated Cornish families.

It was purchased and restored in 1969 by Bill and Ruth "Tim" Marshall; they named it "Emslie House" in honor of his maternal grandparents, from Wauksha. The restoration changed the configuration of the front door and windows and removed the steps leading to the entrance."
-from "A Field Guide to Mineral Point" by Nancy Pfotenhauer of the Mineral Point Historical Society, 1st Edition, 2012, Little Creek Press.
