| Additional Information: | #650: Garage. Front stoop, brackets. An engineer in the paper industry, John Cox worked for the Winnebago Paper Company and Kimberly Clark Corporation. His house was constructed some time before 1895. The John A. Cox House is located on Doty Island in one of Menasha's most prominent neighborhoods. Situated on the east side of Naymut Street, the Cos House is a square two-story frame Italianate residence featuring single roof brackets and a shingled roof pediment with returning eaves. The hipped roof material is asphalt, the siding is clapboard, and the foundations are random stone. The canopied front entrance is supported by turned wood columns and features a shingled pediment. Windows are double-hung, single-pane sash topped by lintels. Utilizing Frame construction, the John Cox House is an outstanding example of the Italianate form of architecture. 2009--No apparent exterior changes have been made since it was last surveyed in 1984. |
