| Additional Information: | Karl E. Forsgren was manager of the Nichols Paper Company. His house on Lake Road was constructed in 1941. The Karl E. Forsgren House has no known association with any significant indiviidual or event. The Karl E. Forsgren House is located on Doty Island on a small pensinula bordering the Fox River. Situated in a secluded neighborhood, the Forsgren house is a rectangular one and one half story residence from the Colonial Revival Period of Construction feqturing prominent dormers, shuttered windows and a small bay. Built of brick, the house features wings on each side with clapboard siding. The roof material is asphalt and the foundations are concrete. Windows are double hung multi pane sash. Decorative features include a denticulated cornice. The Karl E. Forsgren House is an outstanding exam, ple of the Colonial Revival Period of Architecture. Since 1984, the only apparent exterior alteration is the modification of the bay window--which now extends to the ground, whereas it earlier was suspended along the primary facade. The main block is faced with brick, while the remainder of the home appears to still be sheathed with board. The roof dormers are covered with board-and-batten siding. A free-standing garage is located closer to the road. |
