A TWO-STORY, CREAM BRICK HOUSE WITH SEGMENTALLY-ARCHED WINDOWS, A SMALL PORCH WITH VERGEBOARDS SUPPORTED BY TURNED POSTS (BALCONY ABOVE), AND A TWO-STORY BAY. A CORNICE RUNS AROUND THE BUILDING, OFFSET FROM THE CREAM BRICK BY ITS LIGHTER COLOR. THE FRONT DOOR FEATURES A TRANSOM. Previously surveyed in 1976. UPDATE June 2010; entry porches missing turned posts (currently supported by temporary 2x4 supports); some window openings have been bricked over; 1-story clapboard addition to rear elevation. 2010- "The Evan Jones House is a 2-story, cream brick ltalianate residence that was constructed in 1882. The building is irregular in plan with a stone foundation, cream brick walls, and an asphalt-shingled hipped roof. Windows are 1-over-1 and 2-over-2 double-hung with decorative stone segmental arched hoods. A 2-story projecting bay with 1-over-1 windows and decorative woodwork projects from the center of the front (east) elevation. A small entry porch exists on each side of this bay; the porches appear to be simplified versions of the original (turned posts have been replaced by 2x4s, and balconies railings above have been removed). A decoratively painted cornice runs the perimeter of the building. Throughout the building, some original windows openings have been partially or fully bricked over. A 1-story clapboard addition protrudes from the rear (west) elevation." - "CTH K, 0.25 miles N and S of Williams Creek Bridge", WISDot #5679-00-05/06, Prepared by Gail Klein for GLARC (2010). |
