NOTES
Additional Information: THIS SIMPLY OUTLINED, TWO AND A HALF STORY FRAME RESIDENCE IS DISTINGUISHED BY A GABLED DORMER, WHICH IS DESIGNED WITH CORNICE RETURNS AND A PALLADIAN WINDOW. A FULL-LENGTH VERANDA IS SITUATED ON THE FRONT FACADE. RECOGNIZED AS A TWO STORY CUBE, THIS HOUSE FEATURES A RECTANGULAR PLAN CONFIGURATION, A HIP ROOF AND A CLAPBOARD EXTERIOR. BUILT IN C. 1913 (SEE BIB. REF. A), THIS RECTORY IS CONSIDERED TO BE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. ALSO ON THE SITE IS A GARAGE, BUT NO INTENSIVE SURVEY EXISTS TO DESCRIBE IT. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND: ST. THOMAS' FIRST RECTORY, CONSTRUCTED IN C. 1845 AND DEMOLISHED IN 1976, STOOD DIRECTLY SOUTH OF THE CHURCH (C. 175 MAIN STREET, 5/3) AND WAS ORIGINALLY USED AS ST. MATHIAS FEMALE ACADEMY. WHEN THAT FACILITY CLOSED AFTER A FEW YEARS, THE BUILDING WAS CONVERTED TO THE PARISH RECTORY. IN C. 1913 THIS FRAME BUILDING, SITUATED NORTH OF THE CHURCH, WAS CONSTRUCTED AS THE NEW RECTORY AND THE FORMER BRICK STRUCTURE (WHICH IS PICTURED IN OLD POTOSI) ABANDONED. (SEE BIB. REF. A, B).
