| Additional Information: | Flat roofed two-story industrial building with sied elevations articulated by slender brick piers, plain projecting cornice and recessed two-story panels characterizing the front facade, multi-paned windows industrial windows, and two one-story additions on south side. Showing remarkable integrity considering the various uses over the years, the McKenzie Building is a significant industrial building typical of industrial construction in La Crosse at the turn of the century rather than the more modern industrial structure. R.C. McKenzie established a potato picking machine factory in La Crosse in 1918. The McKenzie Co. built in the 1920s was one of the largest producers of potato growing implements in the nation. 2016 UPDATE - BUILDING NOT EXTANT. A NEW ONE STORY BRICK BUILDING, STILL OCCUPIED BY LA CRO PRODUCTS, INC IS AT THIS LOCATION. UNKNOWN WHEN THE HISTORIC BUILDING WAS DEMOLISHED, CIRCA 2000, AFTER THE 1996 SURVEY. |
