SEE RECORD # 3230 Cut brick cornice and along the top of the facade; recessed facade bordered by capped end piers; four over four windows; flat stone window heads with incised roselle design; segmental arched side windows with two over two shashes; added service door in front facade, attached to the rear. #650: Saitla Motor Company (41-5). 2015 - building not resurveyed due to loss of integrity (altered façade, replacement windows). Feb. 2021: This property consists of two historic buildings joined at the rear and side elevations to create an L-shaped building with frontage on both E. Elm Street and N. High Street. The building fronting on N. High Street was constructed c.1893 in a Commercial Vernacular style. It is rectangular in plan with a single metal-framed glass door with single-pane transom, picture window with three-pane transom, and simulated 4-over-4 window at the first story; the second story contains a central pair of simulated 4-over-4 windows and with individual simulated 4-over-4 windows on each side. Second story windows feature stone sills and lintels. All windows and doors are new. The building fronting on E. Elm Street was constructed in 1920 in a Twentieth Century Commercial style. It is rectangular in plan with a façade divided into three distinct bays separated by brick pilaster. Each bay contains banks of new shop windows with entrances in the two outer bays. The second story contains three new single-pane windows in each bay. Above these, rectangular brick panels serve as the primary ornamentation with a date stone in the center bay (this in incised with the year 1920). The center of the roofline is adorned with a triangular parapet within which is a stone plaque bearing the word “GARAGE.” |
