| Additional Information: | PURTELL WAS A PHYSICIAN AND HE AND HIS WIFE HAD 2 CHILDREN. HE WAS BORN IN MONCHES, WISCONSIN ON APRIL 8, 1873. HE WENT TO SCHOOL THERE AND EVENTUALLY BECAME A SCHOOL TEACHER. HE ATTENDED THE NORMAL SCHOOL AT WHITEWATER, WISCONSIN. AFTER 5 YEARS AS A TEACHER, HE WAS FINANCIALLY ABLE TO PURSUE HIS GOAL OF BECOMING A PHYSICIAN. HE ENROLLED AT RUSH MEDICAL COLLEGE OF CHICAGO AND GRADUATED IN 1899. HE ESTABLISHED A PRACTICE ON THE WEST SIDE OF MILWAUKEE AND BECAME A MEMBER OF THE MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL COLLEGE. HE ALSO WAS THE CHIEF OF STAFF OF TRINITY HOSPITAL IN MILWAUKEE AND A STAFF MEMBER AT MISERICORDIA HOSPITAL IN MILWAUKEE. HE WAS PUBLISHED IN MEDICAL JOURNALS. IN 1927 HE MOVED FROM THIS HOUSE TO AN APPARTMENT ON N. PROSPECT AVE. AND EDGAR FEDERED LIVED HERE. BY 1930 REGINALD B. COCROFT LIVED HERE. THE BUILDER WAS NAMED GURDA. The photo code is CW3-18. |
