NOTES
Additional Information:2024: The Reise Farmstead is a general farm initially settled c.1880, currently consisting of 17 resources. These include a farmhouse, two barns, grain bin, two silos, root cellar, privy, woodshed, chicken coop, cattle shed, windmill, machinery shed, and four pole buildings. South of the house is a stacked stone root cellar built into a dugout hillside. The cellar’s stone matches that of the house’s foundation, so it likely dates to c.1915, if not earlier. It features two entryways, one with a simple wood door and the other open, with a wood railing leading further below ground. A vertical wood-plank-clad privy is located at the north end of the farmstead and also likely dates to this early period. See AHI #247073 for the full property description and history. root cellar
