| Additional Information: | 2024: Completed in August 1948, this served as the first purpose-built building to house the Eagle River Municipal Information Bureau. Prior to its construction, the municipally run bureau was located in a variety of buildings, most recently in the former American Legion Memorial building (present-day and significantly remodeled, Riverstone Brewing Company) at 219 North Railroad Street (north of the subject historic district). When completed, the 1948 building included an interior finished in knotty pine that included both men’s and women’s restrooms and a lounge with a booth that provided free information regarding area resort and other accommodations. Also located in the building was a small police office. In 1959, remodeling efforts including moving the public telephone booth outside, the addition of cabinets and a new tile floor. The building housed the information bureau until moving into the former railroad depot in the 1980s. The building is currently home to Emmalyn’s Sweets & Treats, which opened in the building in 2024. It was at that time the building was painted hot pink, purple and turquoise. |
