| Additional Information: | 2022: JCC Camp Chi is a Jewish summer camp situated on over 600 acres on a private wooded property along Lake Blass. Several of the original camp structures were constructed between 1951 and 1952, when it first opened as a girl’s camp. These structures include the office (AHI #244836), maintenance buildings, dining hall (AHI #244837) director’s residence (AHI #244838), health center (AHI #244850), several cabins, and small auxiliary buildings. The camp is designed around several compounds or “villages,” each containing 4-6 camper cabins, counselor cabins, bathrooms (AHI #244846), and a fire circle. Additional cabins and facilities were constructed during the 1960s and 1970s after the camp became co-ed. Activity facilities and structures include horse stables (AHI #244849), art center (AHI #244851), Israel Village (AHI #244852), amphitheater, ropes course, pools, outdoor courts, gym, clubhouse, radio station, and archery range. Various updates and improvements have been since 1980 and the newest structure, a modern health center, was constructed in 2020. The camp also incorporates the c. 1950 Perlstein Retreat Center (formerly Delltona Lodge) which includes 48 guest rooms and a dining hall (AHI #244847) that is cantilevered over Lake Blass. The retreat center is separated from the main campground by a c. 1900 dam. Northwest of the retreat center is a c. 1970 Chapel (AHI #244848). |
