| Additional Information: | 2022- Surveyed by HRL: This modest, one story house is sheathed with what is generally long, narrow, shaped stone, regularly placed examples of which project nominally beyond the wall surface for effect. It is a ranch-type house on the north side of Mequon Road, from which it is setback by about 27 feet. The structure is oriented on an east/west axis and has a small, front gabled, wing projecting south from the east half of the south sidewall. The house appears to rise from a brick foundation, that same brick providing the sheathing for the north (back) side of the structure. The house also has a breezeway extending west from its west endwall. It connects to a one-car, gabled garage facing Mequon Road and oriented perpendicular to the house. The front of the garage is sheathed with the same stone as the south and east sides of the house, though its west and north sides are of concrete blocks. The fenestration on the house appears original and is worth noting. A picture window in the south endwall of the projecting south gable wing is centered and flanked by vertical columns of four smaller lights, centered above which is a circular window with nine, small panes framed by stone headers. The entrance is situated in the short, west sidewall of the projecting south wing and sheltered by a slightly flared, extension of the wing’s roof. Immediately to the left (west) of the entryway, though on the south sidewall, is a window with four, horizontally placed panes, to the left (west) of which is a smaller picture window notable for its two, horizontal panes, one above the other, flanked by vertical columns of four smaller lights. That arrangement is quite similar to the window unit on the south endwall of the projection. Finally is the east endwall notable for its prominent chimney flanked by one window of four horizontally-placed lights to the left (south) and two such windows on its right (north). |
