NOTES
Additional Information:A 'site file' exists for this property under the name "Shaw Point Historic District." It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. South of the Camp Stella lodge, log stairs lead down the bluff to a wood dock. The treads, as well as an intermediate landing, are half-log while the stringers, posts, and railings are full logs. The wood dock is L-shaped. The longer leg is slightly angled and is supported by steel-tube piles, while the shorter leg is supported with log piles. Riprap protects the lake-facing corner of the dock. A dock has been in this location since Samuel Fifield established Camp Stella around 1886. Burt Hill rebuilt the dock for the Andersen and Phipps families in 1938. Subsequent repairs have been made and a new set of half-log stairs was installed around 2010.
