NOTES
Additional Information:The Hope Lutheran Church is a single-story Contemporary building constructed in 1974.

The sanctuary has an asymmetrical gabled roof and an irregular footprint. A concrete bell tower with a metal cross rises
from the ground on the south side of the building. The eaves extend to shelter the driveway which accesses the main
(southwest) entrance. The exterior is clad in vertical board siding. Exterior architectural details are confined to the
stained glass windows on the northwest and southwest elevations. A glass breezeway connects the sanctuary to the
single-story education wing to the nmth. The education wing has aT-footprint, a gabled roof, and double-hung and
casement windows. It is clad in the same vertical board siding as the sanctuary.

Hope Lutheran Church was originally organized as Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Congregation of Cottage Grove, Dane
County, Wisconsin, in January of 1854. The present church building was constructed in 1974 after a fire destroyed the
1870 building. The new church was designed by Robett Torkelson of Madison.
