| Additional Information: | This building was constructed as one of four operations and training buildings sited overlooking the flightline when the installation became a permanent training site for Air National Guard units. The architect listed on the drawings was John J. Flad & Associates and Mead & Hunt, Inc., Architects & Engineers, Madison, Wisconsin, through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District. The current appearance of Building 519 is a result of additions that linked Buildings 519 and 526 and expanded the overall size, forming an irregularly shaped footprint that currently measures approximately 100 x 20 feet with a 60 x 35-foot offset. The center of the current building was Building 519. In 1983, an addition was constructed on the west end of Building 519. In 1993, Building 519 was joined by an addition to Building 526 sited directly to the east. The former Building 526 was doubled in size by an addition along the south wall. The entire one-story, concrete-block building was finished with exterior insulation finishing system (i.e., dryvit). The gable roofs of differing heights are sheathed in composition shingles. New windows and doors were installed in the building ca. 2003. All windows in the north and south elevations are modern, metal-frame, one-over-one-light, double-hung sash units. Multiple doorways are located in the north and south elevations and contain modern metal units. The doors are solid metal units or have lights. The building end elevations are blind. |
