| Additional Information: | This frame vernacular house was probably built around the turn of the century. It has Craftsman-style exposed rafters and brackets with knee braces. The gabled front porch has heavy Eastlake turned posts. The house shows good integrity. The history of the house is uncertain. It was built on the farmstead of Anders Lundmark, and may have been his farmhouse. Anders Lundmark came to the area from Sweden c. 1889. He is said to have hewed the timbers for the first schoolhouse in the area in 1890. After 1890, there are no more references to Anders, except in the plat books. There are references made to an Anton Lundmark on the same property. It seems likely they were the same man. Anton was elected first town clerk of McKinley Township in 1898, and served as town clerk again from 1900 to 1903 and 1909 to 1914. |
