| Additional Information: | Historic Architectural Survey Report for the Whitewater Solar Project - Stantec, Inc. This roughly 5-acre parcel includes a circa 1870 house, a circa 1995 metal pole barn garage, and a circa 1995 shed. The two-story, gabled-ell house has an asphalt shingle roof and an interior brick chimney. The windows are a mix of vinyl and wooden 1/1 types, with a fixed pane window in the attic gable. The siding appears to be either a composite board or wood. A one-story wing to the south includes an east-facing rear porch. The foundation, where visible, is concrete. The Highway 12 ROW was moved south in the 1960s to remove sharp curves that had existed previously near the former Smith house. This alteration resulted in the present roadway being much closer to the former Smith house as well as the loss of outbuildings that were once located northeast of the house. This property appears in the 1873 Everts, Baskin, and Stewart atlas and the 1891 North West Publishing Company plat book as belonging to Frank Smith (no conclusive information available). According to later maps, subsequent owners include William J. Reddy (1871-1915) in 1907 and Owen Reddy (1844-1922) in 1921. Later owners include G&C Rice around 1952 and members of the Hammel and Lambert families in 1961 . Lack of Initial Integrity (as of 2022 survey) |
