CREAM BRICK WITH RED BRICK POLYCHROME BRICK CORNER BUTTRESSES GOTHIC ARCH WINDOWS ORIGINAL INTERIOR 2013: Exterior remains unchanged. In the middle of the quad, RA17.4 St. John’s Chapel (1864) takes inspiration from English Gothic parish churches, which sometimes have compact forms, steep roofs, emphatic buttresses, and colorful brick patterning. Here, cross motifs accent the lancets, panels, and steeply peaked parapet. Some credit Racine’s Lucas Bradley with the chapel design, but he was probably only the builder. J. F. Miller of New York was likely the architect of this and other campus buildings.
