| Additional Information: | Excellent Victorian cottage of this type. Note original porch with scroll sawn screen and unusual double arched surround over 2nd floor windows. 2001- "This one-and-one-half-story, front gable house is sheathed with vinyl siding and has had both its interior chimneys removed down to the ridge of the roof. The house retains two decorative round-arch window units located in the upper story of the front and side gables. These window units feature paired, four-over-four, double-hung, wooden sash windows with round-arch upper sashes. First-story fenestration consists of one-over-one, double-hung, wooden sash windows, most of which are board-infilled. A shed-roof porch features square posts with decorative capitals, a modern wooden railing and balustrade, and spindlework consisting of an arched pattern. A 1980 Wisconsin Inventory of Historic Places survey card shows the front chimney and reveals an oval window on the side of the entrance, which are no longer extant. Due to the lack of building permit information available, little is known about this property other than that owner Hattie Beese operated a rooming house on the premises in 1949." - "Marquette Interchange, Milwaukee", WisDOT ID #1060-05-02, Prepared by Heritage Research (McQuillen) (2001). |
