In 1866, the house was sold to John Ash Norris. Norris partnered in 1867 with hardware store owner John Meigs to form Meigs & Norris. The firm was later run by Norris and, after his death in 1890, his son Harley took over operations. Son Harley was the first person to serve Elkhorn as mayor in 1892. The Norris family retained ownership until 1903. Since 1953, the home has been under the ownership of local historian Doris Reinke, author of Elkhorn in 2004. |
