SUMMARY
St. Mary of the Angels Church and Monastery
645 South Irwin Avenue, Green Bay, Brown County
Architect: William E. Reynolds
Date of Construction: 1903

St. Mary of the Angles Church and Monastery in Green Bay, Wisconsin, was designed by architect William E. Reynolds and completed in 1903. The attached church and monastery were erected by the parish of St. Mary of the Angels in partnership with the Polish Franciscan Fathers. The building represents the successful establishment of a Polish Catholic Church in Green Bay following a thirty-year struggle by the community to gain sufficient financial stability to maintain a parish distinct from the German Catholic parishes in the vicinity.

St. Mary of the Angels Church and Monastery is as an excellent and distinct example of the Gothic Revival style of architecture designed by prominent local architect, William E. Reynolds. The building displays a unique interpretation of the Gothic Revival style through its incorporation of Gothic forms in a simplified heavy composition with rounded-arch entryways and rough-hewn stone walls.
