Neighborhood House Boys Camping Scrapbook: Fire Tower
Fire tower at Pigeon Lake Boys' Camp, a summer camp sponsored by the Recreation Department of the Work Projects Administration. Thirteen boys associated with Neighborhood House did odd jobs in their communities to help pay their camp expenses; the rest was paid by the Community Union Camping Fund. The caption in the scrapbook reads, "One of the highlights of the camping period was the five mile hike to the fire tower. It was the desire of every boy to climb the tower and thus become a member of the 'Squirrel Club.' Neighborhood House boys assisted Camp leaders in taking small boys over to the tower. They were also instrumental in encouraging the younger boys to climb the tower." |
