The LZ 127 Zeppelin in flight

The Graf Zeppelin airship, 776 feet long, could travel at a speed of up to 80 miles per hour, powered by five 550 horse-power Maybach engines. Hydrogen gas used to achieve lift. The lighter-than-air craft made a pleasure voyage around the globe with a full passenger load in just over 12 days, at that time the fastest aerial circumnavigation. |
