Written on the envelope accompanying the snapshot, "Here is shown Aldo Leopold's very interesting Father, Carl Leopold, prominent business man and civic leader in Burlington at the turn of the century, and president of the Leopold Company, manufacturer of office furniture, which is now headed by the third son, Frederick. An ardent sportsman (father) he refused to shoot ducks in the spring. Early in his boyhood days, Aldo got the start of many of his conservation ideas through his father's preachments." |
