La Voz Headlines
| Piles of "La Voz Mexicana" (The Mexican Voice) newspapers at the Wautoma office of Obreros Unidos (United Workers). The headline says, "Hartford Contract is Unfair," referring to the cannery workers union contract with Libby's Hartford plant. Obreros Unidos called it unfair because the negotiations occur during winter. This photograph is a part of Wisconsin-native David Giffey's series "Struggle for Justice," images from the migrant farm worker struggle including an independent organizing effort in Wisconsin and the nationwide grape boycott movement started by Cesar Chavez of United Farm Workers during the 1960s and 1970s.
