A Map of the Seat of War
This map was reproduced photographically and issued in Augusta, Ga., in the early days of the Civil War. It includes panels showing Virginia, Maryland, the Confederate batteries on Chesapeake Bay at the mouth of the James River, and the site of the Battle of Bethel Church, or Big Bethel, one of earliest land battles in the war. The map panels are bordered by illustrations of batteries and portraits of seven Confederate leaders. |
