Vignetted head and shoulders oval studio portrait of John F. Hauff, a private in Company K, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in (enlistment credited to) Windsor, Wisconsin. On December 31, 1863, he enlisted in Windsor, Wisconsin and on November 22, 1864 he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 19. He was appointed as a Wagoner on February 18, 1862. He was recruited and joined Company K on March 31, 1864, at Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. On November 22, 1864, he was discharged for disability at Whiteside, Tennessee by order of General Henry Thomas. |
