ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The CIO merged with the American Federation of Labor to form the AFL-CIO in 1955. Photograph taken for "Chicago Sun-Times" newspaper. The original caption reads, "Fists and nightsticks -- CIO marchers and police swing them in battle at International Harvester McCormick works. In this clash, the CIOer came out second best - but only after Policeman Nicholas Roder (hatless at right) was slugged off his feet. (TIMES Photo - Other pictures on pages 2, 3, 28 and 29)."
