Night Hunters
Studio portrait in front of a painted backdrop of two hunters, Jacob Gross, sitting and holding a lantern, and Henry Herold, standing and holding a rifle and pipe. A hound dog sits near them, and in the foreground a group of dead raccoons are displayed. The portrait was taken the morning after a successful hunt. Gesell staged the scene to look like a night in the woods. |
