Super A Tractors at Airport
Slightly elevated view of two men using McCormick Farmall Super A tractors to mow grass near the runway of an airport. The original caption reads: "This is the main airline field serving Savannah. It has 2800 acres of which 1500 must be mowed to keep the field in first class shape. Previous mowing was by low speed units and required 30 days to completely cover the field, resulting in many sections skipped due to lack of time. These new mowers will travel 22 miles per hour compared to the 7 mph for the older models. Frank Lehardy says he will get over the entire field with this new equipment in a few days. Never spending more than 1/4 of the time they formerly needed. Statement by airport manager, Frank Lehardy, 'Lower costs, less manpower and a better kept field are the results we expect from this new fast equipment.'" |
