A note with the original reads: "These photographs were taken at Copenhagen, Denmark, of an 1849 McCormick Reaper. This machine was shipped to Denmark by Mr. Cyrus Hall McCormick in 1852 and was bought by Mr. Beck, owner of Valbygaard, a farm situated near the town of Slagelse, where it was in use for a number of years. It was presented to the museum of the Agricultural College of Copenhagen by Mr. Beck, as being the first mechanical reaper used in Denmark." |
