Stassen's Campaign Bus
Presidential candidate Harold E. Stassen, standing by his campaign bus, beseiged by young autograph collectors. On January 29, Stassen, a former governor of Minnesota, was the first Republican to file in the Wisconsin Presidential Primary. Questioned about his support for Senator Joseph R. McCarthy in the Senate race, Stassen declined to comment. In 1948 McCarthy had been a Stassen delegate, but he was not on Stassen's 1952 slate. |
