Rosenberg Funeral

Tensions ran high among the crowd that gathered outside the Brooklyn building where the funeral service for executed Russian spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg was held. Here the police had to break up a fight that broke out between Rosenberg supporters and members of the press. Public attitudes toward the Rosenbergs was created in part by Senator Joseph R. McCarthy; at the same time their trial and conviction lent credence to his charges. |
