Reuss Campaign Ad

Poster issued by Democrat Henry S. Reuss as part of his campaign for the U.S. Senate seat held by Joseph R. McCarthy. Reuss declared his candidacy on November 8, 1951, after several months of organizing. At that point Reuss did not anticipate a Democratic opponent and his literature is entirely focused on McCarthy and Communism. Instead, on July 8, virtually the last minute for announcing, Thomas Fairchild declared his candidacy. Reuss lost to Fairchild in the primary. |
