Carte-de-visite portrait of Charles Christopher Frost (1806-1880), Vermont botanist. Focused in area of mycology (fungi), especially Eastern North American varieties. Also worked as a shoemaker, and collected fungi in his shoemaker thread boxes. Handwritten inscription at bottom reads, "Chas. C. Frost, Brattleboro, VT."
